LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday pronounced an order of declaring Dr Murtaza Amjad a proclaimed offender, as null and void, ARY News reported.

A two-member bench of the high court headed by Justice Malik Shehzad heard a petition of Murtaza Amjad, the son-in-law of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

The petitioner said that he was declared a proclaimed offender by an accountability court and called it as unlawful. The petitioner also termed his arrest by the Interpol an illegal act.

The counsel of petitioner said that an accountability court had declared Murtaza Amjad as proclaimed offender on September 12, last year.

Murtaza Amjad facing a NAB inquiry into the Eden Housing Scheme scam along with his father.

The Supreme Court on a review petition in October last year had also withdrawn its earlier order of placing the name of Dr Murtaza Amjad on the Exit Control List (ECL). The apex court had, however, allowed the NAB to continue with its inquiry into the Eden Housing Scheme scam.

According to the NAB inquiry, more than 11,000 people have been affected by this scam.

The affected people had also staged a protest in Lahore and demanded justice from the high ups of the  government.
