Malik breaks record for most catches by a non-wicketkeeper in T20Is

DUBAI EARNERS | October 29, 2018 | |

Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik surpassed South Africa’s AB De Villiers and New Zealand’s Ross Taylor record of most the catches in the history of T20 International.

The 36-year old took the 45th catch of his T20 career against Australia in 3rd T20I on Sunday.

The experienced all-rounder has been a stand-out performer for Pakistan in the past couple of years, he is the second highest run-getter in Twenty20 cricket, beating Brendon McCullum of New Zealand’s 2140 in 71 games. Malik scored 2153 runs in 98 innings while New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is at the top of the list with 2271 runs in 73 innings.

The right-handed batsman is also the first Pakistani player to achieve the milestone of reaching 2,000 T-20 International runs.

On Sunday Pakistan crushed a hapless and chaotic Australia by 33 runs in the third Twenty20 international in Dubai on Sunday, registering their first ever whitewash against them in a limited over series.
