BULAWAYO: Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistani in the second One-Day International today at the Queen Sports Club, Bulawayo.
Pakistan currently lead the five-match ODI series 1-0.
Pakistan XI: Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (capt, wk), Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Usman Khan Shenwari
Zimbabwe XI: Chamu Chibhabha, Brian Chari, Hamilton Masakadza (capt), Tarisai Musakanda, PJ Moor, Ryan Murray (wk), Donald Tiripano, Liam Roche, Wellington Masakadza, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani
Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by a mammoth 201 runs after Imam-ul-Haq cracked a career-best 128 to set up Pakistan’s 308 for 7 on Friday.
Career-best efforts from opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq and leg-spinner Shadab Khan ensured that Pakistan kept control through both innings. Imam cracked 128 while Fakhar Zaman also scored a half-century.
Pakistan bowlers were right on the money from the beginning and made the most of clueless Zimbabwe batsmen — who struggled to get a foothold in the match. Shadab Khan who scalped four wickets while Faheem Ashraf and Shinwari got two apiece.
The host were unable to sustain the battle with their bats. Pakistan’s seamers were disciplined with the new ball and were rewarded with five top-order wickets inside the first 15 overs.
Ryan Murray, on debut, was the only Zimbabwean batsman to come to terms with Pakistan’s attack, compiling a tidy unbeaten 32, to help ensure Zimbabwe would at least pass 100, but with Khan running through the lower order with four wickets the hosts still slumped to the lowest ODI total recorded at the Queens Sports Club.
