MATIARI: At least 18 members of a family, children and women among them, were killed in a road accident on the National Highway near Hala in Matiari district on Monday morning.
According to rescue officials, a trailer crashed into a bus which had stopped to change a punctured tyre, fatally injuring around 30 people.
After learning about the accident, rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to a hospital.
The injured were taken to Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad where 18 of them were pronounced dead while some of the injured are stated be in critical condition.
The victims were residents of Hyderabad and returning from Sakrand after attending a wedding ceremony.
There identities couldn’t be ascertained immediately. Meanwhile, the local police have began a probe to fix responsibility for the accident.
